Oct 22, 2014 · I have a server that has a patching tool on it that uses the proxy setting in Internet Explorer. For some reason the check box next to "Use a proxy server for your LAN" keeps getting unchecked. I need to find exactly what is causing this issue. There has to be a Group Policy setting forcing this to be unchecked.

The "Use a proxy server for your LAN" tab is automatically checked and when that happens, I can no longer use IE. I keep unchecking it almost everyday. Check your IE Zones - I've seen it happen at times that IE would place a local server in the Internet zone, thus causing it to ignore the "bypass proxy" setting. Haven't figured out the reason why yet, but it does appear related to either a non-standard port or the server not being a member of the same Windows Domain as the client.

The proxy.pac address must use // and not \\ as for some reason if you use the lan address it automatically changes it back to using the lan proxy. dont worry if you do not have a proxy.pac file if you have "automatically detect settings" selected it should default to no proxy. but stupidly enough this is the only way to disable a proxy server My proxy checkbox keeps getting checked.
